RAJUK Uttara Model College (RUMC) is a co-educational College in Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is situated about a kilometer north of Shahjalal International Airport. 6. Adamjee Cantonment College (EIIN: 107855)

Adamjee Cantonment College also known as ACC is an educational institution in Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The institution was established in 1960 following the ideology of originally renowned public schools of England – Eton and Harrow. It is managed by Bangladesh Army and primarily for the children of Army personnel. But students from the civilian section can also study in this college. On 16 February 1960, Adamjee Cantonment College started its journey as an English medium school that was founded by Gul Muhammad Adamjee (son of Sir Adamjee Haji Dawood, founder of Adamjee Group). The institution was later renamed Adamjee Cantonment College. A public school attached to the college served students in first to tenth grade. 8. Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Public College (EIIN: 108161)

Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College (BNMPC) (formerly Rifles Public School and College) is a Bangladeshi school and college located at the headquarters of Border Guard Bangladesh in Pilkhana. Although originally established to ensure the education of the children of Border Guards Bangladesh (former Bangladesh Rifles) members but civilians can also study here. Major General Shakil Ahmed is the Chief patron of the college, Brigadier General Benazir Ahmed is the chairperson of the governing body, and Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mizanur Rahaman is the principal. Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Public College was established in 1977 in Pilkhana which contains the headquarters of the Bangladesh Border Guards. It was named after Lance naik Nur Mohammad Sheikh, who served in Bangladesh Rifles and died in action during Bangladesh Liberation War. For his actions during the war he was awarded the highest gallantry award of Bangladesh, Bir Sreshtho. The classes for secondary school began in 1978 and students first sat for the Secondary School Certificate examinations in 1980. Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Rifles Public School was upgraded to Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Rifles Public School & College in 1983 and students from the college first sat for the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations in 1985. The school adopted the English version of the national curriculum in 2004.

9. Dhaka College, Dhaka

Dhaka College is one of the oldest colleges in Bangladesh because it was established in 1841. More than 25 thousand students study here not only in honours masters but also in higher secondary education. It has a reputation in case of remaining affiliation with the University of Dhaka. In 1875, Dhaka College received a great honor: from that year, science classes were opened in Dhaka College, that is, a decision was taken to teach new subjects related to science. It was a revolutionary change because through it, it became possible for the youth of East Bengal to gain knowledge about modern day tools and science. After the opening of the science classes, the admission of students in Dhaka College fell. At the same time, the infrastructure of this college also changes. Even then, in spite of various setbacks, Dhaka College continued its progress in the field of education, the golden harvest of which was the creation of Dhaka University in 1921 AD.

10. Dhaka Commerce College (EIIN: 108207)

In the late 1980s when the country was going through political turmoil a few eminent educationists and patrons of education felt the necessity to found an exceptional institution free from politics and smoking for the expansion of business studies in Dhaka. In continuation of this concept the project implementation committee held its first meeting on 06 October 1988 with Kazi Nurul Islam Faruky as the convener, the then Associate Professor of Management at Dhaka College. A.B.M Abul Quashem, the then Education Inspector of the Department of Audit and Inspection, was the co-convener. M Helal, editor, the monthly Bishyabidyalaya Campus was a member and Mahfuzul Haq Shahin was member secretary. SR Mojumdar, Lecturer of Management, Dhaka College and Md. Shafiqul Islam (Chunnu), Md Nurul Islam Siddiqui are notable among the other members.

In the first meeting the members unanimously named the college as `Dhaka Commerce College’ . Besides, a bank account in the name of the college was opened at City Bank’s New Market branch.

Dhaka Commerce College Began its journey formally in 1989 by setting up its sing board at King Khaled Institute. Initially the institution operated in rented houses at Lalmatia and Dhanmondi. In January 1995 it shifted to its own campus at Mirpur . Shamsul Huda, FCA took charge as the first Principal of the college. Professor kazi Faruky took over as the Principal in deputation in August 1990 and continued up to September 2010. Currently he is the Honorary Professor of the institution.

Dhaka Commerce College is the first self-financed, politics and smoking free institution of Bangladesh. Among the founders of this College the following Personalities are noteable- Professor Shafayat Ahmed Siddiqui, Agrabad Women’s College; Dr Md Habib Ullah, Professor of Accounting, University of Dhaka; Kazi Md Nurul Islam Faruky, Associate Professor of Management, Dhaka College; AFM Sarwar Kamal, Deputy Secretary, Cabinet Division, Md Shamsul Huda, Director (Finance), Nawab Abdul Malek Jute Mills; A.B.M Abul Quashem, Md Abul Bashar, Principal, Azam khan Commerce College, Khulna; M Helal, Md Shafiqul Islam (Chunnu), Mahafuzul Haque Shahin, Md Nurul Islam Siddiqui, ABM Shamsuddin Ahmed; Chattogram Govt Commerce College Alumni Association(Dhaka).

Mr Mohammed Twaha was the first president of the organizing committee of Dhaka Commerce College. Professor Abdur Rashid Chowdhury was the president of the executive committee. Dr Shahid Uddin Ahmed acted as the president of the first and the second Governing Body and the third Governing Body was led by Professor Dr Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq, Dept of Accounting and Information System, University of Dhaka, and Chairman, Bureau of Business Research. The fourth Governing Body was headed by AFM Sarwar Kamal, former Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the people’s Republic of Bangladesh. The Current Governing Body is headed by Professor Dr Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq.
